Border country.

As we approached the border between Spain and Portugal the land became much more mountainous, I suppose that makes sense when you’re defending your boundaries! This fortified town is in Spain just before the border, I think it is Puebla de Sanabria.

There were no border guards or controls of any kind going into Portugal. You could see the stanchions where the old barriers were and the old buildings but they are obviously not required now with EU de-restrictions etc.
